A positional deviation sensor for contact-free physical guidance of a manipulator is described. The manipulator is set to track a motion marker close up. Factors limiting and means for improving the performance are pointed out. The result is a system that can be used for real-time training of spray-painting robots. The means are easily extened to general sensory control.
