1. Frühe Prägungen akademischer Gründer anhand sozialer Lernprozesse: Einfluss verschiedener Lebensbereiche auf die Gründungsentscheidung am Beispiel von BG ThinkTank

Zusammenfassung

Akademische Spin-Offs (fortan ASOs) bezeichnen gewerbliche Ausgründungen von Hochschulabsolventen oder Mitarbeitern öffentlicher Forschungseinrichtungen. Obgleich noch immer ein seltenes Phänomen (Braun-Thürmann et al. 2010; Shane 2004), steigt weltweit die Relevanz akademischer Spin-Offs als Transferkanäle von Wissen und Technologien aus öffentlichen Forschungseinrichtungen (Hemer et al. 2006; Mustar und Wright 2010). Voraussetzung für diese spezielle Form des Entrepreneurship ist der Wandel von Hochschulangehörigen zu Entrepreneuren.
In diesem Kontext liefert das Konzept der Prägung (engl. Imprinting) einen theoriegeleiteten Zugang, um die Entstehung unternehmerischer Verhaltensweisen von Akademikern zu untersuchen. Dabei erscheint es zielführend, die spezifischen Lebensbereiche akademischer Entrepreneure unter Berücksichtigung der Argumente und Erkenntnisse der sozialen Lerntheorie differenziert zu betrachten. Die vorliegende Fallstudie beleuchtet daher frühe Prägungen eines akademischen Gründers (fortan Gründer A), die auf professionelle und familiäre Lebensabschnitte zurückgeführt werden können. Darüber hinaus wird in dem vorliegenden Beitrag die Bedeutung sozialer Nähe für frühe unternehmerische Prägungen analysiert.
Das konzeptionelle Modell wird anhand einer explorativen Fallstudie des akademischen Gründers der BG ThinkTank GmbH & Co. KG (fortan ThinkTank) validiert. Das Gründerteam von ThinkTank hat sich im Bereich der Softwareentwicklung spezialisiert. Als Hauptapplikation entwickelten sie eine automatische Bilderkennungssoftware, die in verfügbare Sicherheitslösungen (z. B. Videoüberwachungssysteme) integriert werden kann, um potenziell gefährliche Situationen in Echtzeit zu erkennen und zu analysieren. Eingesetzt wird die Software derzeit bei Großveranstaltungen, wie Fußballspielen, um die Sicherheit im Stadion zu erhöhen.
