Abstract

Dieses Kapitel vertieft das komplexe Zusammenspiel zwischen Geschlecht, digitaler finanzieller Inklusion und Mikrofinanzoperationen in der ECOWAS-Region. Untersucht werden die Fortschritte bei digitalen Finanzdienstleistungen, die anhaltenden geschlechtsspezifischen Unterschiede bei der finanziellen Inklusion und die Herausforderungen, vor denen ländliche Gemeinden beim Zugang zu diesen Dienstleistungen stehen. Der Text untersucht auch das transformative Potenzial der Digitalisierung in der Mikrofinanzierung und im Tischbankwesen und erkennt zugleich die systemischen Barrieren an, die ihrer weit verbreiteten Einführung im Wege stehen. Durch die Fokussierung auf die ECOWAS-Region bietet das Kapitel ein differenziertes Verständnis der regionalen Dynamik, die die finanzielle Inklusion prägt, und der Rolle digitaler Technologien bei der Förderung der Gleichstellung der Geschlechter und der Armutsbekämpfung.
