The chapter is devoted to the study of civil-law regulation of the foreign trade turnover of energy resources of the BRICS countries, which is currently becoming one of the priority areas for strengthening and developing foreign economic relations of Russia and is a powerful and dynamically developing alliance that has an impact on energy markets.

The BRICS is an abbreviation consisting of the capital letters of the international organizations of the countries—Brazil, Russia, India, China and the Republic of South Africa. Until 2011, marked by joining the regional international organization of South Africa, in reference to its designation, the abbreviation BRIC (Note by the authors) was used.

In May 2014, the parties signed a 30-year contract for the supply of gas to China to 38 billion cubic meters of gas per year (Note by the authors).
