Zusammenfassung

Dieser Beitrag untersucht, wie globale 24/7-TV-Nachrichtensender Realität konstruieren, und fragt nach konkurrierenden Deutungen von Welt. Ausgangspunkt ist die Annahme, dass die Weltkonstruktionen globaler Nachrichtenanbieter auf einem vergleichbaren Informationsangebot basieren und zu einem Kampf um Deutungshoheit führen. Mithilfe von Michel Foucaults Diskurstheorie vergleicht die vorliegende Studie die Berichterstattung von Al Jazeera English, BBC World News, CNN International, CCTV News, France 24, RT und Telesur. Für die Untersuchung wurden zwei Materialzugänge gewählt: Zum einen wurde die Tagesberichterstattung ausgewählter Hauptnachrichtensendungen über eine natürliche Woche hinweg analysiert. Zum anderen erfolgte eine Analyse ereignisbezogener Berichterstattung – mit Fokus auf Ereignisse, die im Untersuchungszeitraum (zumindest für die westliche Welt) von zentraler Bedeutung waren (Migration, Klimawandel, Nahost-Konflikt). Die Ergebnisse legen nahe, dass es einer mehrfachen Differenzierung dessen bedarf, was bisher als „antihegemonial“ bezeichnet wurde.
