Abstract: The key function of heat insulation material is to ensure cuts on heat losses, accompanied by other benefits to make processes more efficient and sustainable, in combination with positive environmental effects. Microporous insulation materials are well known due to their superior thermal conductivity values, which allow achievement of extremely low heat losses, when employed in a wide range of insulation applications. Our microporous range of products is one of the widest on the market and comprises rigid and flexible panels, boards, machined products, moulded pipe sections and even free-flowing microporous granules. Since Promat/ Microtherm engineered solutions in furnace linings and other industrial areas are reaching a more or less 'state-of-the-art level', our solutions for pipe systems and other chemical and petrochemical aggregates are still in the emerging stage. Although the reduction of heat losses is mostly in our scope, our developed solutions are usually more ambitious. The innovative design strategy "thinner and lighter" strives to further optimize existing technologies or other processes. Thus, some initial and "green" solutions are briefly introduced in the paper. ...
