Nitrogen oxide pollution is a nuisance caused mainly by flue gases of power plants using fossile fuels and by the exhaust gases of internal combustion engines. The chemical industry, particularly the production of nitric acid is blamed for the pollution of the environment by its well known brown tail gas.
