Abstract

This paper describes the use of energy performance indicators to identify potential gas consumption reductions in large building portfolios. Using sub-daily resolution consumption data from primary gas meters and sub-daily outside air temperature data, the indicators were used to automatically detect potential excessive gas consumption in 70 municipal buildings. These techniques can analyse a large volume of data and provide useful tailored advice and feedback to gas consumers in non-domestic buildings. It can help managers of large building stocks and gas utilities rapidly identify potential excessive gas consumption among a heterogeneous building portfolio, address their probable causes and plan corrective actions.
