Peter Adey is one of the leading academics within the ‘new mobilities paradigm’. Reflecting on mobilities from a theoretical and empirical angle, the geographer’s work is highly influential in different disciplines, not least in sociology. He has been best known for his extraordinary work on air, airports, and aeromobilities, which has led to several books, including Air (2014) and Aerial Life (2010), as well as a great number of articles on the topic. In these works, Adey proposes an exploration of air from different angles, such as the political, the security-oriented, the biopolitical and with regard to governmental power, as well as an exploration of affects and atmospheres. He is also interested in investigating air as a matter or substance. Currently, Peter Adey is involved in a large study on future mobilities with Tim Cresswell. …
