Abstract

Features of metal structure formation in the finishing group of a continuous broad-strip mill are studied using a physical modeling method. Wedge-shaped samples of low carbon steel are rolled in a two-roll laboratory mill at 880–1070 °С in one and two passes. Results of modeling rolling conditions for low-carbon steel strips and subsequent cooling make it possible to establish the main laws governing metal structure formation. Industrial testing of the calculated rolling regimes and subsequent cooling of low-carbon steel strips in the 2000 NLMK mill confirm the possibility of improving finished rolled product mechanical properties.
