Influence of power traces arrangement on quality and reliability of the DC-link current sensing

Abstract

This paper deals with quality comparison of current sensing of the two different power traces arrangements and two types of the DC-link shunt resistors. Investigation of current sensing quality was carried out using the two types of high current power stages, which have different power traces arrangement. Both power stages are designed for low-voltage three-phase AC motor drives, mainly in automotive application area. The first power stage contains mixed-signal microcontroller with integrated gate drive unit and analog circuits. The second power stage was designed to accommodate any type of microcontroller connected to the board via connector. The power traces arrangement is analyzed, and the influence on DC-link current sensing is discussed.
