Much has been written about marketing in the past 50 years or so, but stripped of all jargon marketing is simply about gaining and keeping clients or customers. It applies to both trading and non-trading sectors, and to both goods and services. It is concerned with the traditional ‘four Ps’ of Product, Price, Promotion and Place applied to the marketing of goods, and with the more recent additions of People, Process and Physical evidence to produce the seven Ps applied to the marketing of services.
