Abstract

The chapter introduces the reader to the global occurrence of corruption and its genesis in Nigeria. It discusses corruption as defined by a number of scholars. It also introduces the reader to the reasons for conducting the study. The chapter narrates how the past has led to the spread and growth of corruption in Nigeria and describes initiatives to combat it.
