Abstract

This chapter explores cases of peacemakers at the communal level and how their practice can provide an insight into a wealth of innovative strategies and solutions to making and building peace during violent conflicts as well as in their aftermath. Examples of people who are acting for peace even in the worst situations of violence are key to understanding processes leading toward sustainable peace. Learning about peacemakers, rescuers, and their agency as counterexamples to conflict behavior is essential in educating future generations.
