Library Policies for Research in Monetary Economics

A sketch of the questions dealt with in monetary economics is followed by a delineation of a hierarchy of libraries for the optimal use of library resources for research in the subfield. Different roles for four types of libraries are distinguished. In the future, materials that libraries will be expected to provide will include computer-based bibliographies, time-series data banks, and magnetic-tape cross-section data.
