Business Tendency Surveys in China

The NBS has been conducting the quarterly business tendency surveys since 1999. The eight questionnaires cover eight sectors, and the respondents complete the questionnaire applicable to their business. The survey respondents are required to complete the questionnaires via internet under the guidance of statistic organizations. Due to the protection of the statistics law of the People’s Republic of China, the response rate in China is normally as high as more than 90%. Based on the results of business tendency surveys, the business climate index, business confidence index, and other indices are calculated. The NBS will try to improve the business tendency surveys in the following aspects: seasonal adjustment, high-frequency forecasting functions, international exchanges, and cooperation.
