2022, Journal of Energy ChemistryCitation Excerpt :From the reaction results in Fig. 1, p-benzoquinone and isoprene were difficult to proceed successive Diels-Alder reactions to tricyclic adducts in the absence of catalyst and the bicyclic product was the majority. Supported vanadium oxide catalysts have found extensive applications in the industrial reactions, such as the oxidation of methanol [30] and reduction of NOx [31] due to the characteristic of variable valence. In the Diels-Alder reactions, it is necessary that the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) of diene and the lowest occupied molecular orbital (LOMO) overlap to form σ bonds.
Effect of promoters on o-xylene oxidation pathways reveals nature of selective sites on TiO<inf>2</inf> supported vanadia
2022, Journal of CatalysisCitation Excerpt :Conversely, activation of the C-H bond of the methyl groups of o-xylene by an electron donation from a nucleophilic site will lead to its selective oxidation [11,21]. On the other hand, acidic surfaces are expected to achieve higher selectivities to partial oxidation products at high o-xylene conversions, because weaker re-adsorption is expected due to the overall increasing acidity of intermediates and products [19,22]. However, the effect of acid-base properties is challenging to decouple from redox properties and the presence of nucleophilic and electrophilic binding sites.
