Abstract
This document presents the first results of a study aimed at experimenting an innovative approach to the design and evaluation of complex processes concerning the rehabilitation of the abandoned railway cultural heritage, as an opportunity to promote local development strategies aimed at triggering cultural and economic benefits of minor historic centres and of the “more fragile” territories, by means of the promotion of tourism and the integration of the environmental, cultural, historical but also economic and social resources characteristic of the context into a system. Through a case study, a decision-making process is illustrated which, considering the “network” characteristic of this heritage, develops a Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis aimed at classifying the network of disused historic stations, in relation to their potential reuse and a integrated management planning, and establish intervention priorities for a successful implementation of the enhancement strategy.
