Conclusions
The results presented indicate that the addition of cobalt to maraging Fe−Ni−Mo alloys not only increases the volume percent of intermetallic phase but also changes the decomposition mechanism of the solid solution at certain concentrations. At low aging temperatures metastable precipitates rich in molybdenum and, evidently, nickel are formed, with the structure of ω-phase. The formation of this phase is favored by the formation of regions with short-range order of the Fe−Co type at low temperatures.
All these processes affect to some extent the increase of the resistance to plastic deformation of aged Fe−Ni−Co−Mo alloys.
