Novel principles of calculation and analysis of powder compression

  • Published:
Soviet Powder Metallurgy and Metal Ceramics Aims and scope

Summary

  1. 1.

A novel parameterω-the dimensionless volume fraction of particles plastically deformed during compression-has been introduced. Introduction of this parameter enables us to calculate the compression constants and the process.

  2. 2.

The contact pressure PK.d at zero porosity reaches the value of the absolute strength HA. This value of the material strength can be attained only if there is close contact with constructions or structures capable of withstanding the corresponding stress.

  3. 3.

At zero porosity the specific work divided byω- parameter PK.s-attains the hardness of the most intensively cold-worked metal.
