Hydrogenation of citral to citronellol over Ni−Cr2O3

Abstract

Sodium carbonate added during citral hydrogenation to citronellol on Ni−Cr2O3 in C2−C5 alcohols increases the citronellol yield to 95%. According to microcalorimetric measurements, the conclusion is drawn that sodium adsorbs on the surface of metallic nickel, thus influencing the adsorbability with respect to various unsaturated groups and the selectivity. A correlation between hydrogen solubility in the alcohol solvent and the attainment of zero order with respect to hydrogen in citral hydrogenation to citronellol in the pressure range of 2–10 MPa is reported.

Введение добавок соды при гидрировании цитраля в цитронеллол на Ni−Cr2O3 в спиртах C2−C5 повышает выход цитронеллола до 95%. На основании микрокалориметрических исследований сделан вывод об адсорбции натрия на поверхности металлического никеля, что отражается на адсорбционной способности по отношению к различным непредельным группам и, соответственно, селективности процесса. Отмечается корреляция между растворимостью водорода в спирте-растворителе и достижением нулевого порядка по водороду при гидрировании цитраля в цитронеллол в интервале давлений 2–10 МПа.
