Abstract

The theory developed by Hoffmann for regime III crystallization is applied to poly-(l-lactic) acid bulkd growth rates of crystallization from the molten and the glassy states. — As the temperature decreases a marked upward change in the slope of the growth rate versus temperature curves is observed, which is interpreted as a regime II to regime III transition. The regime transition occurs around 140°C which corresponds to an undercooling of 67°C.
