Abstract

A new device architecture has been employed in the fabrication of organic solar cell using light-reflective background. We found significant improvement on the short circuit current in bulkheterojunction (BHJ) solar cell using smooth light-reflective surface as the background. The reflective surface presumably acts as an optical spacer in the standard BHJ device structure which enhances the generation and dissociation of exciton with in the photoactive layer. It is found that the power conversion efficiency grew by threefold to that of the value without reflective background.
