Considerations about the electrochemical estimation of the ionization potential of conducting polymers

Abstract.

The energy gap and ionization potential of some conducting polymers such as polypyrrole and the polythiophene derivatives, poly(3-methylthiophene) and poly(3-hexylthiophene), are estimated using optical and electrochemical techniques. With these parameters we have constructed the energy level diagrams of the polymers.
