Soziale Mobilität und Lebensstile

Zusammenfassung

In diesem Beitrag wird untersucht, ob und inwieweit Mobilitätsprozesse Lebensstile beeinflussen. Ziel ist die Beantwortung der in der Lebensstilforschung bisher offenen Frage, ob und wie stark Lebensstile durch die soziale Herkunft und wie stark durch die biographische Entwicklung und die aktuell eingenommene Position einer Person beeinflusst werden. Der gegenwärtig ausgeübte Lebensstil wird aus einer diachronen Perspektive betrachtet, indem nicht nur die aktuell eingenommene Position sondern auch die soziale Herkunft als Einflussfaktor mit berücksichtigt wird. Theoretische Grundlage liefert das Habituskonzept von Pierre Bourdieu. Zentrale Aspekte des Konzepts wie die Inkorporations- und Stabilitätsannahme werden einer empirischen überprüfung zugänglich gemacht. Zur Modellierung der Einflüsse werden Modelle vorgestellt, die zur Analyse von Effekten sozialer Mobilität entwickelt wurden und in der internationalen Forschung häufig verwendet werden. Es werden die zentralen methodischen Probleme bei der Anwendung dieser Modelle diskutiert und es wird aufgezeigt, wie diese Probleme gelöst werden können. Es wird ein allgemeines Modell entwickelt, das u.a. die Einbeziehung von theoretischen Konstrukten wie beispielsweise Lebensstile ermöglicht. Datengrundlage ist der ALLBUS 1998. Die Ergebnisse der Analyse werden für das Hochkulturschema präsentiert.

Summary

This article examines life-styles in the context of mobility processes. It does not deal with the analysis of the changing life-style in the life process of a person. My purpose is to answer the question if life-styles are determined by the social origin, the biographic development and the current position of a person. This question has not yet been answered in the life-style research. The current life-style is regarded from a diachronic perspective by considering the current position and the social origin as qualifier. The theory is based on Pierre Bourdieu’s concept of habitus. Central aspects of the concept like the incorporation and stability assumption are made accessible for an empirical examination. For the modelling of the influences of social origin and mobility, I will present models for the analysis of these effects which were developed and commonly used in international research. Furthermore the main problems with implementation of these models and how these problems can be solved are discussed. For this purpose a general model is developed, which makes the inclusion of theoretical constructs like life-styles possible. The generalized model is used for the analysis of the effects of social origin and social mobility in the life-style research. Data basis is the ALLBUS 1998. The results are presented for the advanced culture pattern.
