Abstract

Nanosize Ag and Au were prepared by laser ablation method and the nonlinear optical properties of Ag and Au nanoparticles doped polyvinylalcohol (PVA) /polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) blend films were investigated using Z-scan technique with 7 ns Nd: YAG laser pulses at 532 nm. From open aperture Z-scan measurements it is found that both the Ag/PVA-PVP and Au/PVA-PVP films exhibited reverse saturable absorption. Nonlinear absorption coefficient, nonlinear refractive indices and third-order susceptibility were determined.
