Abstract

Power transformers are the most significant component of power system. Traditionally mineral oils are used as insulating fluid in power transformers. In this work, an effort has been made to investigate the performance of alternate insulating fluids like ester and silicone oil. The technical stability of these insulating fluids, their mixtures is analyzed. Deterioration of solid insulation in presence of ester oil is examined using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction techniques (XRD).
