Zusammenfassung

Der Begriff Ethnomethodologie ist ein Kunstwort, das sein Schöpfer, Harold Garfinkel (*1917), in Anlehnung an die soziologisch ausgerichtete Ethnowissenschaft („ethnos“ – griech. Stamm, Volk) erfunden hat, die untersucht, über welches Wissen schriftlose Kulturen verfügen, wie sie ihre Welt deuten und wie sie ihr Handeln im Alltag in eine sinnvolle Ordnung bringen.
