Cross-Border Co-operations in Hungary in the 1990s

Since the early 1990s, European regional policy has increasingly turned its focus towards border regions. On the one hand, national borders have hindered economic co-operations within the European Union (EU) and beyond the EU’s outer boundaries; while on the other hand, goods and services have reached the border regions only in a limited way due to difficulties in accessing them. In this context, it is necessary to explore the border regions in more detail in order to highlight their problems, to make suggestions for the improvement of cross-border co-operations, and to utilise resulting joint opportunities.
