  • Conference paper

Part of the book series: Lecture Notes in Medical Informatics ((LNMED,volume 5))

Abstract

Within the last decade, computer science or ‘informatics’ has evolved into a uniform concept with respect to teaching and research objectives in the Federal Republic of Germany (1). Pertinent curricula for general informatics are offered by 16 universities and similar teaching institutions. Nine other institutions are offering academic curricula with predominant emphasis on informatics and an application field. One of these is the curriculum for medical informatics offered jointly by the University of Heidelberg and the Heilbronn School of Technology (4).
