Zusammenfassung
Im Coaching hat das Hinbewegen von einem aktuellen Istzustand zu einem erwünschten Zielzustand einen essenziellen Wert. Um diese Diskrepanz zu überwinden und ein Ziel zu erreichen, bedarf es effektiver Selbstregulation. Die Theorie des Regulatorischen Fokus (Higgins 1997) geht von zwei motivationalen Orientierungen aus, die bestimmen, welche Selbstregulationsstrategien Menschen bei ihrer Zielverfolgung präferieren. Während Personen mit Promotion-Orientierung von einem Wachstumsmotiv angetrieben sind und ihren Fokus primär auf das Erreichen positiver Ergebnisse richten, liegt Personen mit Prevention-Orientierung ein Sicherheitsmotiv zu Grunde, welches ihren Fokus auf das Abwenden negativer Ergebnisse lenkt. Welche Konsequenzen ergeben sich aus diesen unterschiedlichen motivationalen Orientierungen für die Gestaltung von Coachingprozessen? Wie sollten Coachingprozesse gestaltet sein, um auf die individuelle Orientierung nach Wachstum oder Sicherheit eingehen zu können? In diesem Beitrag versuchen wir, Antworten darauf zu geben, wie im Coachingsetting Situationen regulatorischer Passung (Higgins 2005) geschaffen werden können, die den Coachees ein Gefühl motivationaler Kongruenz vermitteln und diesen dadurch ermöglichen, intrinsisch motiviert ihr Ziel zu verfolgen und in Folge selbstwirksam wachsen zu können.
