Abstract
Thin sections of soils are prepared by a technique similar to that employed by geologists for making thin sections of rocks, but soils must normally be impregnated with a resin and hardened before they can be cut, lapped and polished. The resins currently employed are polyester, polystyrene or epoxy compounds.
