The so-called andesites of the azores (Atlantic Ocean)

Abstract

The intermediate lavas of the Azores Archipelago are reinvestigated and compared with other lavas from oceanic islands. Using both published and new petrological data, it appears that the so-called andesites and latites are in fact hawaiites and tristanites.
