1.
The nheological theory of hot rolling of porous and nonporous materials has been expanded to cover the general case of nonlinear flow of a curve. It is shown that in hot rolling volume deformation is much more pronounced than extension in the direction of rolling. Because of this characteristic, hot rolling may be regarded as well suited for large-scale production of high-density stock from porous blanks.

2.
Expressions have been derived relating the relative density to the coefficient of compression in hot rolling. It is demonstrated that use of experimental data on the variation of relative strip density enables the stressed state of a solid in the deformation zone to be assessed.

3.
The relationships derived have been verified by experiment and found to be suitable for the quantitative description of the character of the hot-rolling process.
