Conclusions

The data obtained show the possibility of a complete elimination of the voids formed in a cast-iron matrix after dissolution of nodular graphite inclusions. The development of the absorption process can affect subsequent structural-changes during cooling and, with this in mind, the heat treatment procedures of cast iron should be established.
