Strategy for the development of the Russian coal industry

Abstract

The distribution of coal reserves in the Russian Federation is considered, in terms of active or reserve status, their end use, open-pit versus underground mining, and suitability for extraction. Coal production over the next twenty years is predicted, and the corresponding stages in the development of open-pit and underground mining technologies are formulated.
