Abstract

Description of a complete skull and several other remains ofS. maurusium from the Pleistocene of Djibouti, compared with other African fossils and with the Sivalik species. The cranial base, described for the first time in the Sivatheriinae, adds to the originality of this group. The phylogeny and ecology ofSivatherium are discussed.
