Abstract
In the last few years, Ni−Mn−Ga alloys have emerged as promising materials for use as magnetic actuators. The coupling between the magnetic and structural degrees of freedom confer unique magnetomechanical properties to this material. In this paper we present some of the most recent relevant findings in the basic understanding of the properties of the alloy and we also survey the achievements with technological relevance until the present.
