Menschliche Beziehungsnetzwerke verstehen!?

Understanding relationship networks!?

Morenos œuvre from the perspective of network research

Abstract

The social network analysis (SNA) is a method of studying empirically the structure of systems. Using SNA size, density, connectedness, the degree of centrality and the typical patterns of social relations of a system are recorded, calculated and visualized. The state of the art of social network research was influenced by Jacob Levy Moreno. His scientific work on sociometry and the mathematical analysis and visualization of relations have significantly influenced the current analysis strategy. This article gives a brief introduction in social network analysis and describes Moreno’s influence on the current empirical network analysis. A case example is shown at the end to give a short example of social network analysis and the visualization of complex networks and human interactions.
