An Overview of Useful Methods to Treat, Recover, or Recycle Spent Potlining

  • Published:
JOM Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Abstract

A summary of the state of the art of the processes used to reduce the toxicity and/or recycle spent potlining (SPL) is presented including some industries (cement, rockwool, and steel) that accept quantities of SPL. The authors have concentrated on processes that either are still active or have been developed to a pilot or preindustrial stage and have provided references to allow the reader to access other useful processes.
