Abstract

The enhancement of the diffusivity D of host atoms in a lattice containing dissolved interstitial atoms has been discussed in terms of a model in which the enhancement is due to complexes formed due to vacancy-(interstitial atom) interactions and a model which considers that the enhancement is primarily due to the lattice dilation caused by the presence of the interstitial atoms. The validity of these two concepts is discussed in terms of experimental data.

    • Effects of Fe and graphite on friction and wear properties of brake friction materials for high-speed and heavy-duty vehicles

      Citation Excerpt :

The existing research contents usually focus on the influence of a single component on material properties; less research has focused on the synergistic effect of Fe and G on material properties [16–18]. Fe can also be a friction agent in copper-based powder metallurgy friction materials [19–23], which is contradictory to the role of graphite in materials; at high temperatures, C can be dissolved in Fe to form an interstitial solid solution [24–27], indicating that Fe and G also have certain compatibility [28–30]. Therefore, an optimal proportional relationship between Fe and G must exist in friction materials, and Fe and G might have a certain synergistic effect in these materials.
