Is the kinetics of crosslinking polymerization the same on heating and cooling?
2019, PolymerCitation Excerpt :The authors have shown [10] that depending on the temperature of motionless air and extent of conversion achieved on heating, the increase in the extent of curing on cooling can be as much as 30%. They have pointed out [11,12] that after extraction of rubber sheets from the mold, the temperature of the rubber does not drop immediately due to low thermal conductivity and the crosslinking continues for a significant period of time. Despite all the evidence that polymerization does happen during the cooling, there is no systematic research on the kinetics of polymerization on cooling.
