Thermomechanical modeling of functionally graded materials based on bimaterial fundamental solutions
2024, International Journal of Engineering ScienceHertz-type frictional contact problem of a bidirectionally graded half-plane indented by a sliding rounded punch
2020, Mechanics of MaterialsCitation Excerpt :The state-space formalism based quadrature techniques were implemented for 3D elasto-static analyses of multidirectionally graded orthotropic plates (Lü et al., 2009) and for 3D elasto-dynamic analyses of multidirectionally graded isotropic annular plates (Nie and Zhong, 2010). Thermoelastic and thermoplastic behavior of bidirectionally graded materials were determined utilizing a micromechanics approach which is based on the volumetric averages of the field variables (Aboudi et al., 1996a, 1996b). Free vibration analyses of bidirectionally graded cantilever and hinged-hinged beams were carried out considering an analytical approach (Wang et al., 2016).
Three-Dimensional free vibration analysis of composite FGM rectangular plates with in-plane heterogeneity: An EKM solution
2020, International Journal of Mechanical SciencesAnalysis of bi-directional functionally graded plates by FEM and a new third-order shear deformation plate theory
2017, Thin-Walled StructuresCitation Excerpt :However, modern structures and components may require advanced materials whose properties vary continuously not only in one specified direction, but also different other directions. In that sense, the bi-directional functionally graded materials (2D-FGMs) are introduced in the literature, e.g., see [12–15], which are expected to have more effective properties, consequently eliminating commonly awkward problems, for instance, local stress concentrations or delamination. As stated by Nemat-Alla in [12], the conventional one-dimension FGMs may not be so effective in the design of advanced applications in propulsion systems and in airframes for space applications, which often operate in high temperature variations in two or three directions.
Mechanical stress reduction in a pressurized 2D-FGM thick hollow cylinder with finite length
2017, International Journal of Pressure Vessels and PipingCitation Excerpt :The Mori–Tanaka scheme is applicable to regions of the graded microstructure that have a well-defined continuous matrix and a discontinuous particulate phase. Abudi and Pindera have introduced the concept of two-dimensional FGM which material properties were varying in two directions [2]. Cho and Ha characterized thermoelastic performance of heat resisting FGMs, under arbitrary thermal and boundary conditions [9].
