Cellulose pretreaments of lignocellulosic substrates

Abstract

Cellulose in inedible plant materials, forestry residues, and municipal wastes must be pretreated to disrupt its physical structure, thereby making its hydrolysis to glucose paractical. Developments since 1991 are summarized.
