Abstract

An imaging energy spectrometer in a transmission electron microscope offers different operation modes of image filtering and electron energy loss spectroscopy depending on the recorded “coordinates” and “selective windows”. A terminology is proposed for characterizing these modes. Examples of application are presented for crystalline specimens and the physics of electron-specimen interactions.
