Abstract

Wave spectra from deep-water data-buoy measurements of hurricane Eloise were analyzed using the JONSWAP spectral shape formula. Correlations of α, g(Ufm), and gH8U2 with grU2 were found for values of wind speed U at the data buoy when the eye of the hurricane was at distance r away. Hs is the significant wave height, fm the spectral peak frequency, and α is Phillip's “constant”.
