All methacrylate block copolymer/TiO<inf>2</inf> nanocomposite via ATRP and in-situ sol-gel process
2020, Materials Today CommunicationsCitation Excerpt :This forms the basis of TiO2 nanocomposites in many applications like sterilizing, antifouling and self-cleaning. Several reports cover the synthesis and preparation of various TiO2 nanocomposites based on a variety of polymers like poly(arylene ether sulfone) (PES) [4], poly(tetramethylene oxide) (PTMO) [5], poly(dimethyl siloxane) (PDMS) [6], polyimide [7], poly(phenylene terephthalamide) [8], poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) [9], epoxy [10], poly(vinyl butyral) (PVB) [11], poly(styrene-co-maleic anhydride) [12], poly(methyl acrylate-co-itaconic anhydride) [13], poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) [14], poly(phenylene vinylene) (PPV) [15], poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) [16], poly(styrene) (PS) [17], etc. But there are very few reports on acrylic polymer/TiO2 nanocomposites, even though they are expected to have very good transparency, excellent weatherability and stability against oxidation and ozone, and very good film forming properties.
Synthesis and characterizations of a series of water soluble polyamides and their micellization behavior
2019, PolymerCitation Excerpt :As a consequence, much research effort has been directed at improving water solubility of polyamides in recent decades. The strategies that have been employed to enhance the water solubility of polyamides include introduction of flexible linkages [15], hydro-solubilizing chains and groups such as carboxyl groups, poly (alkylene oxide) chain segments [1,16–20], hydroxyethyl to polyamide backbone. Vanesa [3,21] reported a new polyamides, containing a benzimidazole side group and ethylene oxide moieties in the structural repeat unit, which shows good solubility [22,23].
Overburden soil and marine dredging sludge utilization for production of new composites as highly efficient environmental management
2019, Journal of Environmental ManagementNew clay-reinforced polyamide nanocomposite based on 4-phenylenediacrylic acid: Synthesis and properties
2013, Journal of Saudi Chemical SocietyCitation Excerpt :To overcome this problem, thermally stable aromatic amide oligomer was synthesized for the intercalation of montmorillonite and subsequent preparation of the aromatic-polyamide-based nanocomposites with improved compatibility between the two phases. Recently, the present authors have reported high temperature sol–gel derived hybrid materials and organoclay nanocomposites (Ahmad et al., 1997a,b,c; Sarwar et al., 2007a,b; Zulfiqar et al., 2007; Kausar et al., 2007; Bibi et al., 2007). In the present work, nanocomposites of aromatic polyamide with organoclay have been synthesized using solution intercalation method.
Surface and related bulk properties of titania nanoparticles recovered from aramid-titania hybrid films: A novel attempt
2012, Materials Research BulletinCitation Excerpt :Reagent proportions, and process conditions, durations and glassware were exactly as detailed in the original recipe [17]. It is worth noting that the modification adopted here, which is confined to replacing the silylating agent APTMOS by the ICTOS, was meant to improve bonding of the titania network homogeneously to the polymer matrix and, thus, lessening largely the titania agglomeration observed previously [17]. This modification was encouraged by (i) a similar modification that was found previously [13] to help preparing aramid–silica hybrid films with homogeneous inclusion of the silica content and (ii) results of preliminary examinations of aramid–titania hybrid films, obtained using APTMOS as a silylating agent, revealing inhomogeneous inclusion of the titania species.
