Hybrid selective surface hydrophilization and froth flotation separation of hazardous chlorinated plastics from E-waste with novel nanoscale metallic calcium composite
2016, Journal of Hazardous MaterialsCitation Excerpt :Subjecting PVC to mechanical recycling also poses problems; even when present in small quantities, it worsens the recycling ratio by forming compounds with the main plastics and otherwise deteriorating them [13]. Furthermore, when PVC is landfilled, some of its chemical additives may leach, adding to the overall contaminant burden of landfill leachate [14–16]. Therefore, any end-of-life product or waste stream from products containing hazardous chlorinated plastics must be managed in a way that minimizes the potential impact on human health and the environment [17].
Dioxin mass balance in a municipal waste incinerator
2000, ChemosphereCitation Excerpt :On the other hand, it is common knowledge that the PCDD/PCDF and PCDD/PCDF-precursors are already present in waste. In fact, data about the levels of PCDD/PCDF in textile, wood, food, plastic, etc., the typical components of waste, are available (Klasmeier and McLachlan, 1998; Klasmeier et al., 1999; Horstmann and Mclachlan, 1995; Wilken et al., 1991, 1992; Wagenaar et al., 1998). The most recent studies reveal a thermal destruction of PCDD/PCDF in a modern MWI (Vehlow, 1997).
