2021, UltramicroscopyCitation Excerpt :SEM measurements were performed by varying LE in the range between 1 keV and 10 keV for silica NPs (ERM®-FD101b and ERM®-FD304) or between 2 keV and 10 keV for gold NPs (nPSize 1). In order to consider a sufficiently representative population of the sample, at least 250 NPs were measured to build the distribution histogram and evaluate the number-weighted area-equivalent modal diameter (DNWAE) of the studied population at each selected LE [17, 25–27]. Table 3 gives an example of the corresponding uncertainty (usampling) for each population for LE equal to 3 keV.
