Enhanced mechanical behavior and corrosion resistance of AZ31 magnesium alloy through a novel solid-phase processing
2022, Corrosion ScienceCitation Excerpt :Here, differences between the ultimate tensile strength and yield strength, along with the amount of strain to failure in tensile testing were used as an indicator for the strain hardening capability [73] and ductility. Comparing the strain hardening capacity of commercially used magnesium alloys like AZ80 [74], AZ91 [75], ZK60 [76], AM60 [77], ZE41 [78], AZ63 [79], AZ61 [73], and WE43 [73] with the ShAPE processed AZ31B alloy, the latter shows an increment of 50–170 MPa. Further, the elongation to failure (15.4%) of ShAPE processed samples is also significantly better relative to the above-mentioned alloys.
Unveiling the mechanical response and accommodation mechanism of pre-rolled AZ31 magnesium alloy under high-speed impact loading
2022, Journal of Magnesium and AlloysCitation Excerpt :Therefore, the environment temperature required for DRX is reduced with increasing strain rate. The mechanical response of material is related to grain size [31], twin [15] and shear band [32]. Meantime, the mechanical response is also affected by the deformation condition [33].
New hot rolled Mg-4Li-1Ca alloy: A potential candidate for automotive and biodegradable implant applications
2016, Materials LettersCitation Excerpt :Another group of binary Mg alloys, namely Mg-Ca alloys, were also considered as good candidate materials for medical implants. Again, a limiting factor was their poor mechanical strength and ductility [11–13]. Here we introduce a ternary alloy Mg-4Li-1Ca (LX41) that we developed to alleviate the disadvantages of the mentioned binary alloys.
Effect of intermediate annealing on the microstructure and mechanical property of ZK60 magnesium alloy produced by twin roll casting and hot rolling
2015, Materials CharacterizationCitation Excerpt :Recrystallization may occur during straining (dynamic recrystallization, DRX) [9,10] or after subsequent annealing (static recrystallization, SRX) [11–13]. The researches [14,15] reported that the rolling deformation of twin roll cast ZK60 alloy at lower temperature can result in the forming of high density of shear bands, dislocations and twinning. And it is difficult to occur for dynamic recrystallization.
Effect of annealing on microstructure and mechanical properties of ZK60 magnesium alloy sheets processed by twin-roll cast and differential speed rolling
2014, Materials CharacterizationCitation Excerpt :The microstructure is characterized by grain-structure or dendrites (Fig. 1(a)) with eutectics and intermetallic at the boundaries (Fig. 1(b)). A previous work by Chen et al. [11] has shown that the eutectics and intermetallic compounds in the interdentritic region mainly contain Mg and Zn elements. It is interesting to note that the microstructure of the TRC samples is considerably different from that developed in conventional or ingot casting.
Effects of minor Gd addition on microstructures and mechanical properties of the high strain-rate rolled Mg-Zn-Zr alloys
2014, Journal of Alloys and CompoundsCitation Excerpt :As seen from Fig. 9(a), the (0 0 0 2) plane texture maximum pole intensity of the Mg–5.5Zn–0.6Zr alloy is 2.24. It has been reported in literature [24] that the maximum pole intensity of the ZK60 sheet produced by conventional rolling at 400 °C is 6.2. Compared with the conventionally rolled sheets, the sheets fabricated by HSRR are dominant in the (0 0 0 2) basal texture.
